Winter Wonderland is a Christmas spectacular that is sure to put you in a festive mood. Hyde Park hosts this fantastic event each year, full to the brim with Santa Land an outdoor ice rink, Christmas shows such as The Teletubbies and more than 200 cabins selling beautifully crafted Christmas gifts.
Leicester Square Christmas Market
Leicester Square transforms into a Christmas fairytale from November 9th 2018 to January 5th 2019. Here you will find over 25 stalls with wonderful gifts and fantastic food. Take the children to Santa’s Grotto or enjoy a family Christmas show. The square is within a stones throw of Covent Garden market and many West end theatres so there is ample opportunity to make a day of it.
Winterville Clapham Common
Winterville is equally great if you want a day out with the children or if you want a fun night out with the other half. It has everything from a roller disco to theatre shows, a Spiegeltent, plonk golf, craft stalls and so much more. Winterville runs from the 15th November to the 23rd of December and is open Tuesday to Sunday.
There are a few hidden gems in London that produce quality children theatre all year round. If you are not a keen panto goer or have a toddler with minimal attention span, here are a few productions that might just fit the bill for a little Christmas entertainment.
Little Angel Theatre
The Little Angel Theatre N1 2DN, is a puppet theatre situated in the heart of North London. They often have a number of shows running concurrently catering for different age groups.
Finding Santa is one such show and runs from Friday 16th of November until Monday 24th December.

The Polka Theatre SW19 1SB is a longstanding children’s theatre that houses excellent productions all year round. For the festive season Polka theatre have produced In the Winter Wood which runs from the 29th of November to the 17th of February.
In the Winter Wood is a tale of. friendship and bravery and whilst it is not strictly a Christmas show with sleigh bells and reindeer your little ones will still leave having had a wonderful theatrical experience.
This Polka Theatre and Apple and Snakes production is aimed at 3yrs to 6yrs and as the Polka website tells us…
‘When Pig and Goat discover they’re being fattened up for a winter feast, they decide to run away to find a little house in the winter woods, where they can live happily together. Along their journey they meet Goose, Hare and Cockerel, who offer their special skills to help build their new home.’

Christmas Storytelling with Michael Rosen
The Old Vic SE1 8NB is hosting Christmas Storytelling with children’s author and poet Michael Rosen on December 15th.

Humbug! and Unexpected Twist: An Oliver Twisted Tale, his unforgettable retellings of two timeless Dickens classics. Festive Story Time – The Polar Express
The Polar Express is brought to life this Christmas at the Discovery Centre in Stratford. This storytelling adventure runs from December 8th to January 6th and is aimed at children aged 3years to 7 years.
